ACT TWO: THE MOVIE
Produced by Laurel Butler The Rosenthal Theater at Inner City Arts April, 2019 After a successful sold-out performance at UCLA's Northwest Auditorium (see here for more info on the ACT TWO Performance Project), the 21st Century Fox Social Impact program offered to support the film version of ACT TWO, and so in the Summer of 2018 the original stage show was adapted into a movie, with Laurel serving as Executive Producer. The fifteen original cast members spent weeks working with Laurel and the film's director, Ewen Wright, training in cinematic acting techniques in order to reprise their stage roles for the camera. With a crew of Hollywood professionals behind the scenes and in charge of the production design, the ACT TWO story was told for the screen. ACT TWO: The Movie premiered at the Rosenthal Theater at Inner City Arts in April 2019, followed by screenings at the Los Angeles Public Library and the Arts in Action Charter School before its public release online. It also served as supporting social media content for the Justice LA campaign, which successfully stopped the 3.5 billion dollar LA County jail expansion plan in August of 2019. |
